Editorial Review for Sea Salt Eatery – by Blair Reynolds

In Short
Sea Salt delivers a unique take on a typical park eating. Say goodbye to hot dogs and burgers and hello to crab cakes, oysters on the half-shell, catfish po'boys and tilapia tacos. Add a cold beer or icy soda and you may just think you are at Fishermen's Wharf, and not Minnehaha Falls. Although closed in the winter, party planners can book the space and its food for private gatherings year-round.

Extras

Critics agree: Sea Salt has the best outdoor dining this side of the Atlantic. With plenty of tables right near the roar of the Minnehaha Falls and the music of the Minnehaha Park bandshell, every experience at Sea Salt is like a trip to the beach.

When to Go

The line can sometimes snake out the door at this park-pavilion eatery. It's best to arrive early (before 6pm) to ensure a short wait. Otherwise, grab a beer or a glass of wine and enjoy the chatter and people-watching in line.

I like Sea Salt and understand the appeal but I really can't justify the wait time for the food. The food was good, not out of this world in my opinion, but good for Minnesota saltwater fare. The management should really look at the flow of traffic and come up with some solutions. I'm all for waiting for fresh home cooked meals but a shrimp po-boy shouldn't take 1 hour to make.

Pros: Fresh saltwater seafood

Cons: Extremely long wait times

Sea salt is a must for anyone who wants a cold brew and a delish soft-shell crab sandwich. All in gorgeous Minnehaha Park!
