Editorial Review for Canal Park – by Debbie Mazzocco
In Short
The iconic Aerial Lift Bridge--spanning the canal that connects Lake Superior to the Duluth-Superior Harbor--has been a picture-postcard since 1905. But it took over seven decades for adjacent blocks to morph into a district of restaurants, bars, shops and hotels. With the greatest of the Great Lakes on one side, a bustling harbor on the other and the spectacle of Duluth climbing the hillside, this is the Upper Midwest's own special version of seaside charm.

Insider Tips
ParkingOn sunny summer weekends, all the surface lots may be full. Park instead near the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center complex and take the pedestrian bridge to Canal Park.

Duluth offers an array of relaxing environments, including a park above Canal Park, that received an award for using space above the freeway. Fitger's Brewery Complex is amazing... shopping, dining, and hotel atmosphere. The Lake Walk is something to be appreciated -- along the way you will come across a Vietnam Memorial as well as other landmarks just waiting to be appreciated. Duluth is a MUST for relaxation and fun. If you like antiques there are also many possibilites waiting for you.
Pros: Tranquil, Unique shopping, Shipping Industry
Cons: , Book room ahead
